Parents
We know all students have parents. That is why we created this page just for you. Hopefully this page answers any questions you may have about (boulevard) Student Ministry.
How can I get my student connected at (boulevard)?
The best way to get connected anywhere is to be there. It’s very hard for someone to feel connected if they’re not even a part. Every week we have a Wednesday night service for high school students and a Sunday morning service for middle school students. Each service is specifically designed to reach students at their level. On Wednesday nights, we also have middle school small groups that meet all across campus. This is where (boulevard) becomes small and it becomes easier for a student to get connected. Some other simple ideas are to introduce a student to a staff member or leader. Contact the (boulevard) office, get them on a ministry team, or bring them to one of our events. We’ve found that there's not one correct answer for every student, so don’t give up.
What happens in a (boulevard) service?
Hundreds of students gather together for every (boulevard) service. These high-energy services offer a time where students can connect with God through contemporary worship, edgy media and a relevant message loaded with games and illustrations. With a lounge, gameroom, cafe, smoothie spot and an auditorium, this is a perfect place for students to hang out and get connected. Visit our Attend page for more details.
What happens in a small group?
Every Wednesday night at 7 PM middle school students gather all over our campus. A small group is a gathering of students and leaders, and every student is welcome. Small Groups provide a place for students to connect and an opportunity for them to bring their friends. During this time students will hang out, connect to others, play games, discuss topics relevant to their spiritual growth, pray together and have lots of fun.
What do I do if my student needs counseling?
We have a great church staff, student ministry staff and team of volunteer leaders that talk to students every week. They are more than willing to talk with your student about their needs. Many issues students deal with can be handled through talking with a leader or staff member that they know. However, if your student is in need of professional counseling, please know that we are not trained, licensed counselors. Our church uses a network of counselors that are available for appointments. To find out more information about professional counseling, call the church at 210-523-1505.
What ages of students are allowed to be at (boulevard)?
We are a ministry of middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) students. Sixth grade students are allowed to attend immediately after completing their fifth grade year in school. However, it is up to you, as parents, to determine whether or not your student is ready. Once a student graduates 12th grade they may stay at (boulevard) as a student until the end of that summer. After that, they have the option of going to WHAG's young adult ministry. They can also stay with (boulevard) as long as they fulfill the requirements of becoming a leader.
Are there any ways for parents to be involved?
There are tons of opportunities for you to get involved. One way is by serving on our Leadership Team. This team oversees service and gaming both spiritually and physically and ensures that (boulevard) is a safe and positive experience for every student. Another way is by getting involved in one of our ministry opportunities. There are small groups, discipleship classes and more than 10 ministry teams to serve in. Check out the Adult Leaders section of this website for more information. If you have access to any resources that might be helpful to our ministry, donating them is a simple way to invest in the lives of students. One of the greatest ways is for you to pray for (boulevard) on a consistent basis. There is no greater way to impact students than to lay a foundation of prayer.
Is there something at your church for adults?
Absolutely. Every weekend we have four identical services. They happen at 6 PM on Saturdays and at 8:30, 10, and 11:45 AM on Sundays. These services are built to encourage you, challenge you and celebrate what God is doing. On Wednesday nights there is a service just for adults that begins at 7:00 PM. This is a time of worship and teaching that is focused on you as an adult. Additionally there are adult discipleship classes, small groups and events just for adults. For more information about the adult ministry of Westover Hills check out the church website.
If you still have more questions feel free to call the church office at 210-523-1505 and we will try our best to answer your questions.
